Extension wiring may degrade or become damaged over time - particularly if it runs under high foot passage areas or across doorways - therefore you should eliminate this as a potential cause of your connection fault. Other equipment could also be causing interference, despite being filtered. If you already connect your broadband ADSL router / modem through a filter to your BT Master socket. Then this should be a simple process of ensuring that all your equipment is working correctly, if you do not then you may need to move your equipment in order to start your testing process
Plug your ADSL Broadband router / modem in to the NTE5 master socket test port, via a filter / micro filter. If this solves your connection problem, you should be able to rule out a fault on your service providers side.
One of the most common cause of intermittent connection problems is a faulty micro filter.
If you get intermittently disconnected but the sync light on your broadband hardware is solid green, you should check the idle time out settings on your hardware, this could be set to a low value.
