Customer owned telephone wiring

Thankfully phone faults don't happen often, but when they do suffer the effects of technical, physical, or environmental related difficulties, the result may mean that we cannot fully enjoy the use of our telephone line-based services, such as broadband Internet access. Establishing that there is a fault and its origin can often be vital to obtaining a speedy repair solution from your service provider.

It's not uncommon for customers to report a phone fault or broadband fault on their home telephone line only to be told that there is no fault and that any problems are with internal telephone wiring or equipment. Whilst this may often be true, it is best that you establish definitively that there is no fault with your equipment or internal wiring before reporting a fault to your telephone service provider.

Once you or your independent technical service have established that there is a fault & that the fault originates from your service provider's side, you should contact your service provider to request a repair call-out, knowing that you will not be liable for any call-out fee. (Note should you have to pay your service provider a call-out fee, this will generally be added to your regular bill. Whilst some service providers have reduced the call-out fee, it's important to note that you may also be subject to a repair fee as well.)

It's worth noting that many of the hits & tips for line testing can be applied to phone line faults from suppliers such as Sky, O2, Orange, AOL, Tesco, Tiscali, Talktalk, Be, Plusnet, Virgin, Post Office & many others.

Providing the fault lies on the service supply side & has not been caused by you or any work being carried out at your property, it is highly unlikely, that your phone company will charge you for the call out or repair. However, should the fault be customer premises related there will be a charge. (Check with your provider for current rates)

However, if you live in the Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Manchester, or Rossendale areas Burytec independent telephone engineer services can do a comprehensive review of your internal/external telephone wiring & explain what your telephone company will require from you, in order not to charge for a call out, should one be required.

Note if you have bad wiring inside your property, wiring routed near fluorescent lights, near sources of high amounts of electromagnetic interference, or just bad quality wiring, you will lose some of the strength of the signal, thus decreasing your overall line quality in terms of your voice and data communications.

Some common faults would include short circuits, open circuits, intermittent connections, ground faults, leg A & B reversals, all of which could originate from the customer side or service provider side.

Burytec can correct or renew your internal wiring as required to help resume your service as soon as possible or relocate your service within your property.
